How To Use & FAQ’s For Indispensible Suction Cup Mounted Liquid Dispenser

The Indispensible™ is designed to fit numerous configurations. It may be necessary to try different positions to achieve the desired look. Note –The Indispensible™ operates at various angles, therefore it is not necessary for it to be mounted perfectly level/perpendicular to the mounting surface.

Standard Installation:

  • The Indispensible™ comes ready to install on smooth clean surfaces that are slightly curved inward.
  • How to mount dispenser to a clean smooth surface.
    • Thoroughly clean the mounting surface area. (TIP – a warm mounting surface and warm flexible suction cups will provide the best conditions for superior adhesion during the installation process.)
    • Firmly press on the front of the dispenser, towards the clean smooth dry mounting surface, to seat the suction cups to the surface. (Note – the top two suction cups are the most critical to seat as these two alone are capable of holding the dispenser.)
    • To position the dispenser, slightly rotate and/or slide the dispenser against the mounting surface until the desired location is achieved. If unable to rotate or slide, remove the dispenser and reposition.  Moisture can be used to help with the positioning of the dispenser, very sparingly using only clean water, very lightly moisten the mounting surface, this will assist with proper positioning (do not saturate or over moisten).  Remount the dispenser to the surface and position as desired.
    • If the dispenser wants to slide/slip during operation you can either remove the dispenser and dry additional moisture from the suction cups and mounting surface until a more secure mount is obtained, a hair dryer can be used to warm and dry the suction cups and mounting surface before mounting as well, . The dispenser may have to set a bit to completly grip the surface, just give it a pump to test after a while to see if it has gripped enough.
    • After the final positioning, firmly press on the front again to ensure as many suction cups as possible are attached to the mounting surface.

Here are some helpful dispensing hints to ensure maximum dispenser holding power:

Apply some inward pressure towards the mounting surface with your product receiving hand while dispensing. This inward pressure will reduce the downward force on the dispenser while the push pump is used. One way of dispensing is to just use one hand placing your index finger against the white neck of the push pump and your thumb pushes the pump down to dispense product.

Mounting on Glass or any Non-Porous Surface:

Lightly coat warm suctions cups with hand sanitizer and then firmly apply the Indispensible to warm glass or warm non-porous surface, ensuring all suction cups are compressed. The Indispensable can now be positioned into its desired location by continuing to apply firm pressure towards the mounting surface while rotating and sliding into place. Once the hand sanitizer has evaporated the Indispensible will be securely mounted for use. Occasionally, the Indispensable should have firm pressure reapplied to reset the suction cups to the surface.

We have had the same Indispensables & suction cups mounted to vehicle glass since 2015 dispensing hand sanitizer. While in service these Indispensibles have been exposed to Iowa temperature extremes as well as direct sunlight. Occasionally the Indispensible will need to be removed and the suction cups allowed to return to their relaxed state, then remounted as described above.

The Dispenser Wants To Slide Down While Dispensing:

We have had customers report that the dispenser wants to slide or move when the pump pump is push to dispense product.  We have experienced this before as well if the surface is extremely slick, moist, and/or wet while first mounting the dispenser and this can be frustrating.

This situation usually can be remedy by having a clean smooth warm dry surface and warm dry suction cups. Most likely your mounting surface is smooth enough if it is just sliding down the surface while trying to dispense and not losing suction.

Two ways to accomplish warming the dispenser and the mounting surface are to run warm water over the dispenser’s suction cups and mounting surface. The second option would be to use a hair dryer to warm the suction cups and mounting surface prior to mounting. Completely dry all the suction cups and the mounting surface with something lint free if water was used as the warmer. While everything is warm and dry remount the dispenser. You may need to wait a minute to let the suction cups grip the surface a little more before the using the dispenser and then give it a try!

It takes a little prep work sometimes to get the suction cups to seat, once seated they usually do not require much maintenance unless the dispenser is removed to clean the area.

The Dispenser Will Not Stay Mounted:

We have had customers report that some sinks have a slight texture to them and have some suction cups release over shorter than expected periods of time.  Customers are very lightly coating the surfaces of all five of the suction cups with sticky substances such as Karo® syrup, honey, or any thick sticky syrups and getting incredible suction cup holding results while still maintaining removability if necessary!  A non-staining sticky substance helps increase the holding power of our already strong five suction cups!  This only takes less than a drop to do all five suction cups, make sure the syrup covers the entire suction cup clear out to the outer lip.  There should be just enough syrup on the suction cups to make them sticky, not slick.  If the suction cups feel slick the syrup will need to be removed usually with a dry finger and keep cleaning the finger off with a clean cloth until a tacky suction cup surface is produced.  With a warm surface and warm suction cups the dispenser is ready to be installed.

Ensure the surface is a clean non-porous smooth surface – Hand clean the suction cups and mounting surface with a mild soap and rinse with warm water. Installing the dispenser while the suction cups and mounting surface are still warm will aid in a more successful mounting.

If the suction cups lose suction over time- The suction cups over time will assume the shape of the surface they are attached to and the dispenser may become detached after long periods of uses. If this occurs the suction cups can be rejuvenated by running them under warm or even hot water.  This may need to be done more than once for the suction cup to regain their shape again.  Once the suction cups return back to normal shape, reattach the dispenser as described above.

Adjustable Mounting Installation:

The Indispensible™ comes ready to use, however, it may be necessary to change the configuration of the suction cups based on the shape of the surface to which it’s applied like a more vertical surface such as a shower wall.  Utilizing the longer stemmed suction cups in the bottom two holes to for more vertical mounts.

Again, typically the adjustment will be accomplished by adding the two extended neck suction cups to the bottom two mounting holes depending on the shape of the sink or surface. These two bottom holes are designed for easier removability/insertion as they are slightly larger than the other mounting locations. The top two and center holes have much tighter tolerances and will take extra effort to remove/reinsert if adjustability is needed in these areas.

To remove a suction cup, firmly grasp the edge of the suction cup and peel it away from the dispenser body.

To reattach or attach a different suction cup, this insertion process works best if the body and the suction cups are warm (room temperature) and flexible, as they are designed to fit tightly. If more flexibility is desired, run the suction cups under warm water. Ensure the mounting holes and suction cups are dried off before starting the insertion process.  Lightly moistening the mushroom-shaped head of the suction cup only may also help aid in the insertion process.

Avoid getting excess moisture in the dispenser body mounting holes, as the suction cups may not be able to push water out of the mounting holes while attempting to insert them because of the precision tolerances.

Firmly push in the center of the suction cup applying force towards the very center of the body’s mounting hole. While applying this force in the center of the suction cup rotate and twist the suction cup.  This will help roll it into the mounting hole.

Continue this process until the suction cup is completely seated. The mushroom head will not be visible and the suction cup’s main body will be seated evenly all the way around the dispenser body. The suction cup should rotate evenly in the seated mounting hole when inserted correctly.

In more extreme vertical mounting structures, the top two or three suction cups may be the only ones completely attached (seated) to the mounting surface. In this case, the bottom two extended neck suction cups may or may not be seated against the mounting surface. In some vertical mounting situations the bottom two extended neck suction cups will only be used to hold the bottom of the dispenser out and provide stability during operation. This situation is normal and will not affect operability.

Locking, Unlocking and Aligning the Dispenser Pump:

Locking and Unlocking –While viewing from the top, with the pump securely tightened to the dispenser body, turn the pump head one quarter turn counter-clockwise to unlock it. Turn the pump head clockwise one quarter turn to relock.

Aligning – Once the dispenser pump has been unlocked, it may be necessary to re-position the dispenser head (spout). While unlocked, slightly loosen the pump, reposition the pump head to the desired location, firmly hold it in position and re-tighten the pump to the dispenser body.

No Product Dispenses:

  • Ensure the dispenser has been filled with liquid.
  • Check that the push pump is not in the locking position. With the push pump securely tightened to the dispenser body rotate the top spout/head of the push pump counter clockwise while looking at the top of the push pump to unlock. The push pump only requires a quarter turn clockwise to lock and a quarter turn counter clockwise to unlock.
  • Remove the push pump from the dispenser body and inspect the extension tube on the end of the push pump making sure it is fully inserted into the push pump body.  A lose, unsecured, or missing extension tube will reduce the output capabilities of the dispenser and cause it to stop outputting liquid before the dispenser body is completely emptied.

Cleaning:

Occasional cleaning is recommended. Remove the dispenser from the mounting surface. Hand clean the dispenser body, pump, suction cups, and mounting surface with a mild soap and warm water. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry with a clean cloth. Refer to the mounting instructions above for remounting the dispenser.
